Volume I, 320 pages of text, wood cuts, and index. Chapter topics on the history of the locomotive engine and its parts, heat and steam, valve gears, link motion, slide valve, locomotive boiler, tank locomotives, etc.. Volume II, 64 mostly double page engravings of British and American locomotives, plus British rolling stock. Both volumes recently rebound in maroon cloth with leather title labels pressed onto the spine. Both volumes very good.
