An early descriptive guide of the far western states, mostly via the Union Pacific Railroad, written not only for the tourist but also for those seeking to immagrate. 264 pages with numerous full-page engravings, and ads plus folded map in the rear showing tours 1 and 2. Bound in original dark green cloth with lettering in stamped in gilt and border stamped in blind. Discoloration and abrasion from removal of bookplate from the front paste-down endpaper. Inked brackets in the margins of some of the pages. Map has one tiny edge tear in the margin only. Spine has been lacquered giving the cloth a shiny appearence. A very good copy.
