Jencks) with an address of 10 Wall Street and dated May 23rd 1868, on the front free endpaper. Chapters include, "The Origin of Railroads," "How a Railroad is Built," Origin of Railroads in Russia," "Progress of Railroads in the United States," chapters on prominent railroads of the time, projected railroads, etc. 452 pages with tables, plus 6 pages of publisher's ads in the rear. Bound in original purple cloth with lettering on spine in gilt on spine and publisher's name stamped in blind on the front cover. Shallow loss to the cloth on the spine ends. Cover worn, however the content pages are very good plus.
