Bound as a single volume. Half-title pages present. Original faintly yellow endpapers present. Two page ad at the rear of Volume I. Twenty-four pages of ads in the rear of Volume II dated 15th April, 1859. Bookplate of Harry Smith Edwards on the front free endpaper. Edwards, a ship owner in South Shileds, County Durham, patented in 1869 a gearing for auxiliary screw engines. Also built in 1872, the Iron Screw Steamer was christened in his name. Bound in original green morocco grained cloth over boards, borders and designs stamped in blind on the covers and lettering and rule on the spine stamped in gilt. Interior hinges professionally repaired. A very good plus, exceptional copy, housed within a custom slipcase.
