No Place: No Publisher [1950's]. Album, photographs. Item #46227
An album of railroad steam locomotives, mostly in the western states of the U.S. 495 mostly professional type shallow angle photographs presenting numerous main line, logging and mining railroad companies, some narrow-gauge. A few of the companies are; Western Pacific; Southern Pacific; Eagle Gorge Lumber Co.; North Western Pacific; Robert Dollar Co.; Arcata & Mad River RR.; Crown Willamette Paper Co.; Lorane Valley Lumber Co.; Rayonier, Inc.; Pacific Electric, and the list goes on. Some measure 5 x 3 inches, others 4.5 x 2.25, 3 x 2.25, and one 9.5 x 7.5. Many of the pictures were taken by several railroad fans while on train photo trips, one covering 3200 miles in several weeks in the early 1950's. They obviously had their trip planned and which railroads they would photograph. Many are originals credited to Charles Givens, Jack Gibson, Douglas S. Richter, Ted Robson, John F. Larison, Robert E. Searle, and Wally Swanson. These photographers often had their pictures featured in magazines and books. A very handsome presentation of main line, logging and mining railroads.
