REGIONAL RAPID TRANSIT. A REPORT TO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT [BART] COMMISSION 1953 - 1955

New York: Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Hall and Macdonald, engineers, 1956. Spiral bound folio. Item #47646

The plan for development of the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit [BART] system. "In concluding two years of work here, we are firmly convinced that the answer to ever-increasing traffic congestion in the Bay Area lies in the utilization of high speed, grade-separated, interuban rapid transit as a complementary component to the regional highway network." The previous quoted from the Engineers' transmittal letter. 106 pages printed on heavy paper stock. Numerous charts, graphs, proposed rout maps, cost estimates, equipment diagrams, station plans, etc. Book measures 22.5 x 17.25 inches. Quarter bound with black pebbled cloth over printed gray paper covered boards. Corners moderately worn. A very good plus copy. Very few were published, probably just for members of the commission and some for the regional public librarys.
